Local Attractions

Enjoy the beautiful beaches, escape for a swim in the Pacific Ocean, take the kids to the Australian Reptile Park or visit one of the many other attractions on the Central Coast.  You can be busy the whole time or just relax and unwind here at The Palms at Avoca!  Here are a few suggestions of things to do on the Central Coast to keep yourself or the family entertained.

 

  • Around Avoca

    • Amazing Beaches

      Beautiful Avoca Beach is a 15-20 minute walk (2km) from The Palms at Avoca and is great for surfing, swimming and fishing. The rock pool at the Southern end of Avoca Beach is popular for young children.  

      Within a short drive you can discover other picturesque beaches including MacMasters Beach or Putty Beach, Killcare which is also popular for swimming, surfing, BBQ's and picnics, or try Little Beach in the Bouddi National Park.

    • Aquafun - Avoca Lake

      aquafun_avoca_beach.jpgJust a 15 minute walk, on Avoca Lake, is AquaFun.  It's great fun for kids with modern watercraft activities including pedal boats, kayaks and surf skis.
    • Avoca Beach Theatre

      avoca_beach_theatre_avoca.jpgAvoca Beach Theatre is a beautiful heritage theatre, a must see theatre with old world atmosphere, velvet seats, beautiful vintage candelabras and free tea and coffee.  Just a two minute drive from the Park.  
    • Central Coast Surf School

      surf_avoca.jpgLearn to surf at Avoca Beach while you staying on the Central Coast.  Avoca offers some of the best surfing on the Central Coast so why not have fun and get fit at the same time with Central Coast Surf School.
    • Fishing

    • Bush walking and National Parks

      Explore the breathtaking Bouddi National Park or Brisbane Water National Park.  Bouddi has a series of small beautiful beaches beneath forests, steep hills, cliffs and spectacular views! 

    • Diving

      Terrigal Dive is the only dive shop in Terrigal with an exclusive licence to the HMAS Adelaide and are 25 metres from the boat ramp. We are a quick drive to Terrigal offering modern self contained cabins and a resort pool complex with BBQ facilities.  It's an ideal spot for friends or groups to get together after a great day of diving.

    • Avoca Beach Markets

      Avoca Beach Markets are held every 4th Sunday of the month from 9am to 2pm.  At Heazlett Park Foreshore Avoca Beach.

  • Attractions on the Central Coast

    • The Australia Reptile Park

      Visit The Australian Reptile Park to see a great display of kangaroos, Tassie Devils, koalas and wildlife. Experience SpiderWorld and lots of crocodiles!  It's one of the Central Coast's major attraction and a fun day out for the family.

    • Segway Rides

      segway.jpgFor something a little different there are now Segway rides around Mount Penang Parklands at Kariong. They offer 5, 10, 30 and 60 minute adventure Segway rides.
    • Glenworth Valley

      glenworth_valley_couples_fun.jpgThe largest horse riding and outdoor adventure centre in Australia is Glenworth Valley, near the F3. There's horse riding, quad biking, abseiling, mountain biking, laser skirmish, kayaking, bushwalking and much more! 
    • Golf Courses

      If you want a social game of golf, the courses located nearby Avoca Beach include TerrigalTuggerah Lakes and Gosford Golf Clubs.

    • Erina Ice World

      Enjoy ice skating at Erina Ice World, located at Erina Fair Shopping Centre, 10 mins drive from Avoca.  Fun for adults and kids, skate hire available.

    • Australia Walkabout Park

      Located near Calga off the Freeway, it's a great destination to visit on your way back to Sydney.  Australia Walkabout Park has free ranging Australian animals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, Aboriginal rock art, a wealth of bush tucker and bush medicine plants.

      There's also a great range of other Cafes and Takeaway Shops for families along Avoca Drive and at the point overlooking the beach.  Copacabana and Terrigal are only 10 minutes drive away where there's also a range of cafes and fine dining restaurants available. 

      Alternatively, enjoy a barbie at the park.  BBQ Facilities are located at the pool and next to the playground.
